The goals of "En busca de un personaje famoso"
will give the student of Spanish level II the opportunity to, not only learn
about Spanish speaking countries and their cultures but also research a famous
personality in a specific country.
The students will learn that, even though, these countries
are linked by a common language, they have their own culture and regional
differences which make them unique.
In addition to making his/her own presentation, the student
of Spanish II will learn about Spanish speaking countries as he/she listens
to the presentations of other students. This exercise will make them aware
that Spanish is spoken in over twenty countries around the world and this
is important especially in a world where globalization is becoming more the
norm of education, business, and technology.
The student will use the FireWorks© application to prepare a poster of the specific country and the famous person chosen to represent that country. They will also write a report with a minimum of 200 words. It will be written in Spanish using the MLA guidelines.
Finally, the student will give a two-minute presentation on his/her selected
Spanish speaking country and a personality of that country. The rest of the
class will learn the name, the location, the capital, the monetary unit, and
other important facts of the country. They will also learn about a famous
person of that country.
The student will
