Eighth grade Spanish students
have been studying a chapter entitled, ¡Ponte en forma!
(Get in Shape!). Students will create an original magazine ad
related to health or physical fitness. They will write the text,
illustrate their ads, and post them on the web. For examples,
they should refer to page 134 of ¡Ven Conmigo! Level
2.
- As a homework assignment students
will write the text for their ads. Each ad will include the following:
- the name of the product or
service
- the benefits (las ventajas)
of the service or product
- at least 3 familiar, singular
commands
- pertinent information, such
as where one can obtain the service or product, when it is available,
and prices or rates, etc.
- Students will spend five class
periods working in the MSCALC. They will create their ad using
Macromedia Firesworks and they will publish their ad using AdobePage
Mill.
- Students will make a folder
in the salud folder of curricular to hold all there work.
- After a brief introduction
to Fireworks,
students following the step by step instructions, will create
their ad using the "Text" tool and the "drawing"
tools available in Fireworks. They are to enhance their text
using the stroke, fill end effects options and can incorporate
illustrations or clip art acquire on line or from 525,000 graphics
available from the"Art Explosion" CDs.
- Students will remember to always
save their work in two formats. PNG format ,so that they can
alter their work if correction is needed and in GIF format to
be placed on their web page.
- Once the ad is completed all
students will open Page Mill, following the step
by step instructions furnished, they will place the graphic
on the page, and make a link back to the student index page.
Students may also enhance their page with color in the background,
etc.

By completing this project, Spanish C students will have
practiced vocabulary related to the chapter on health and getting
in shape, practiced command forms, and gained some technology
skills by utilized the Fireworks and Adobe Page Mill applications
in order to create ads which can be displayed on our website.
