Livia
58 B.C.-29 A.D.
One of the most powerful women of
the ancient world, Livia played an important role in the administration
of the Roman Empire during the reign of her husband Augustus (the first Roman Emperor) and his successor Tiberius,
who was her son from another marriage. By all accounts, Livia wielded much
power during both of these reigns, though eventually she had a falling out
with Tiberius near the end of her life.
