Description

For this project you will use PowerPoint to create a multimedia presentation in the Spanish language.

PowerPoint generates slides and an outline.

The project is entitled, "Algo Sobre Mí" (Something About Me).

The project will entail three phases: 1. planning, 2. developing the presentation, and 3. delivering the presentation.

Each phase will have guidelines and deadlines.

The project will carry the same weight as a test grade.

By the completion of this project, you will be able to utilize technology that facilitates a public presentation, and your classmates will know something more about you.

Planning

Choose a topic that appeals to you from among the following:

• Mi cuarto
• Mi familia
• Mis animales domésticos
• Mi restaurante favorito
• Las vacaciones
• La comida de los días de fiesta de mi familia
• Un fin de semana típico
• La música y yo
• Los deportes y yo
• Un viaje a _____
• Comprarle el regalo perfecto a mi ___________
• Una fiesta de (cumpleaños, aniversario, graduación)
• Pasar el tiempo libre en casa (en el colegio, con mi familia, con mis amigos)
• El equipo de _____

You will be creating at least 8 visuals (either photos or hand drawn pictures, or a combination of the two) and accompanying text for your topic. (The visuals may not be downloaded from the web due to infringement of copyright.)

Jot down all of the things that you would like to include in your presentation. Divide this information into different categories. These categories will become your slides. Consider the design and layout for each slide. Think about the artwork you want to include. Consider key words and phrases you want to include on each slide. You will not write your entire text on the slides. The slides serve to prompt and to enhance your narration.

A word of caution about translation: As much as possible rely on the vocabulary that you have already learned in class. This is your opportunity to apply the vocabulary that you have learned in the past two years. If you absolutely need to use new words, they should be nouns. Attempts to use new expressions with verbs and verb tenses that we have not studied will make your task more frustrating, difficult and incomprehensible to your classmates.

If you need to use new vocabulary, immediately prior to your presentation you need to distribute a list of it to your classmates.

Developing the Presentation

Please adher to the schedule. Class time will be provided for you to receive instruction and to work on your project in the CALC. You will have an introduction to PowerPoint and to scanning. You will be given step by step instructions to help you develop your presentation. You will have an opportunity to refine your graphics and text and to produce an outline. You will also have time to work on the finishing touches.

Delivering the Presentation

You will use audio visual equipment in the classroom to present your finished product to the class. Remember if you use new vocabulary, immediately prior to your presentation, you need to distribute a list of it to your classmates.

Rubric

Your project will be graded according to cirteria delineated in the attached rubric sheet.
