Act 1
Scene 1 – The Aztecs’ homeland, Aztlan,
and their life there. Aztlan was somewhere in northern Mexico, and it was
a paradise.
Scene 2 – The Aztecs get instructions from the god Huitzilopochtli to
leave and find an eagle sitting on a cactus eating a snake.
Scene 3 – The Aztecs’ horrible journey. They traveled the desert
barbarically for 200 years. They ate fly eggs, snakes, and lizards. They wore
animal skin for clothing and were called dog people.
Scene 4 – They reach the eagle! It is 1325, and the land they have found
is fertile, soggy, and uninhabited.
Act 2
Scene 1 - Daily life in the new land. They ate birds and fish and farmed chinampas.
Scene 2 - Religion. Religion was a very big part of the Aztec life.
Scene 3 - End of the Aztecs. The Aztecs died out when the Spanish brought smallpox to Mexico.
