Florida Seminoles
The Seminole Indians are Indians that lived in Florida
during the 17th, 18th, and the begining of the 19th centuries. In the beginning
of the 17th and 18th centuries Native North Americans started to move to
Florida. The Miccosukees left after the Creek War in Georgia and the Vamasee
were forced out of North and South Carolina. In the early 19th century Caucasian
slave owners wanted to claim land in Florida and they had wars. By 1958
3,000 Seminole Indians had been moved from Florida to west of the Mississippi
River. 300 Seminoles avoided being relocated by hiding in the Florida Everglades.
