PYGMY MARMOSET POEM

By Danielle K.

I am a marmoset known as a pygmy
If you will listen, I know you will dig me.

I'm a small, long-tailed South American monkey,
My quick, jerky manner makes me quite funky.

I jump high in the sky, like a bird I can fly,
My long tail and clawed digits help me get by.

I'm six inches long and weigh only three ounces,
We live in small groups where we pounce and we bounces.

I love to eat insects and lots of good fruit,
My round saucer eyes make my face so darn cute.

People keep us in cages so we might die out,
Keep us free in the trees so we can swing about.

I'm as cute, small and cuddly as a monkey can get,
So please, pretty please don't get me for a pet!!
