The Redwood

by Colin

I stand tall

Unmoving for 3 thousand years

No one mightier

No one stronger

With a trunk so wide that it can extend thousands of branches

230 feet above the soil

Millions of tiny nettles weave a veil to catch the sun

Great roots pour into the soil

Securing the earth that would otherwise crumble under the elements

Redwood

World to termites

City to ants

Home to squirrels

Tree to all

In one half hour

One of the most mighty beings on the earth

Will fall to a simple chainsaw.
