EXPLORER CARD

STUDENT

DIRECTIONS

Use a special 5" x 8" card which your teacher will gladly provide.

Draw a picture of your explorer on the blank side. Remember what you learned about self-portraits as you draw your picture. Also on this side, make sure that you put the flag of the country your explorer sailed for, as well as his name.

On the printed side of the card, give the information that you have found about your explorer. You should use the following guide to abbreviations to help you complete the necessary information:

Y.O.B. = Year of Birth
C.O.B. = Country of Birth
Y.O.D. = Year of Death
C.S.F. = Country Sailed For
Y.O.E. = Year(s) of Exploration
D.S. = Direction Sailed
M.B.W.S.O.= Major Body of Water Sailed On
L.F. = Looking For
W.E.O.D. = What He Explored or Discovered

In the Career Highlights section, tell what the explorer did that was the most important and/or most interesting part of his career. This should be in sentence form, and it should be printed.

Have Fun! We can't wait to see your masterpieces!
