Notes

* Livia was born in Rome to a very prestigious family in about

58 B.C.

* She was married twice. First to Tiberius Claudius Nero,

then to Octavianus, later known as Augustus.

* She was the ideal of what a Roman wife of the nobility

should be.

* The ideal Roman wife of the nobility is a woman who follows

her husband and does what is needed to be done for him. She

is industrious, hard working and manages the house.

* Livia was important because she did as she was supposed to

do in helping her husband govern the empire, and set the

model to help reform the empire.

* She had a subtle but important impact on ancient Rome in

that she was a good wife to Augustus in addition to helping

Tiberius, who turned out to be a very good leader, gain

power.
