Livia's Early Life
Livia Drusilla was born 58 B.C., smart and spirited, to Marcus Livius Drusus Claudianus and his wife. She came from an ancient and prestigious family that had been part of the nobility for ages. Apart from being a direct descendent of Appius the Blind, Livia's father was adopted by the Livius Drusus family. In 42 B.C. when she was married to her first husband and cousin, Tiberius Claudius Nero, she bore him their first son, also named Tiberius Claudius Nero.
