Cleopatra-Summary

Cleopatra was a strong, beautiful, powerful, deceitful, manipulative pharaoh of Egypt. She cared deeply about Egypt, and wanted to keep it safe and away from the Romans. She desperately tried to keep Egypt from getting into a war with Rome. She wanted to make Egypt the most powerful nation in the ancient world. She was born into a tough family that emphasized politics. Cleopatra was so successful because she was educated in both Greek and Egyptian. She was very good at foreign languages, and could communicate with many other nations. Cleopatra was very important. She defended Egypt up until the day she died. She did everything in her power to keep Egypt from falling to Rome. She was a devoted pharaoh to Egypt, and seduced two men to protect it. She was the lover of both Caesar and Marc Antony. Cleopatra was the most powerful woman in the ancient world. She ruled Egypt solely with the help of Caesar, and gained power through Marc Antony. Without her help in keeping Rome away from Egypt, Egypt would have fallen to Rome many years before it did. She possessed so much power and influence over Egypt and Rome, she truly was a remarkable woman. She was able to be mother, mistress, wife, queen, pharaoh, and the most powerful woman in the ancient world. She did all this because of her place in society, as daughter of a pharaoh, but also because of her forceful nature. She knew what she wanted and she knew how to get it. She was very smart. She knew that Rome needed Egypt and that Egypt needed Rome. She wanted to keep space between them peacefully. She knew to go after the right men to get the job done. If it had not been for the loss of the Battle of Actium, Cleopatra would not have committed suicide and Egypt would not have fallen to Rome. Cleopatra was a beautiful charmer who also had power, brains, and a driving sprit. This is a dangerous combination, even in ancient Rome.
