Livia Drusilla was born in 58 BC to a noble family. She belonged to the two most ancient and conspicuous families of the Roman nobility. Her father, Marcus Livius Drusus Claudianus, was by birth a Claudian. Her father was also adopted by a Livius Drusus. Livia's great-great-great grandfathers were counsels of high authority. She was also a descendent from Appius the Blind.
