A number of Classics Professors from Universities and Colleges around the country have volunteered to be a part of this project and to help you write some really good historical fiction. Online Onramp This is part of the GA web site. On the GA home page, look at the left margin. Find "Academics" and click on it. When the page appears, click on the "Middle School selections" bar. Choose "MS Online Onramp". You will see a series of subjects. Under History Links you will find the Roman History Links. Click here.
Perseus Project A searchable web site with a huge data base of texts and images which you can find on the Online Onramp. Here you can find lots of images, including images of buildings and coins related to your emperor. Search first by using your emperor's name. Click here.
Books Still your best friend for research! There are many in my room--please do not take them without asking! There are also great books and encyclopedias in our library.
Videos There are some very interesting fictional films made about various periods and figures of Roman history. Don't use them for fact, but use them to get a flavor for character (usually based on an ancient source, at least in part) and to give you a feel for the flow of events around your figure. Always view with a critical eye!
CD ROMs I have several CDs in my room that will be useful primarily for your work on the Lifestyles portion of this project.
Our Lifestyles Research Site Use this area of the I Caesar site as you begin to work on your piece of historical fiction. You will find research organized by topic which will enhance your writing with authenticating detail.
Ides of April This piece of historical fiction by Mary Ray does a great job of subtly creating a convincing ancient Roman background for her characters to live in. As you read, take careful note of how she creates her world.
