Content
The most important items to cover are the key biographical data:
Where/when was this person born?
Where/when did he/she live and rule?
What was his/her importance?
What impact did he/she have on ancient Rome? On Western culture?
There are lots of other interesting angles you could explore, such as childhood/education, myths/legends, interesting encounters with other key figures, famous quotes, inventions, artistic contributions.
Requirements for the Power Point Slide Show
1. The length should be about fifteen to twenty slides--no more.
2. There must be at least two illustrations: one drawn by you and scanned or scanned from a book, photo, etc.; one downloaded from the web. These can be pictures illustrating the emperor, his coinage, his building program, etc.
3. Your presentation should have a title page slide with the usual heading placed in the lower right-hand corner. In the center of the slide should be your title, which must be bold-faced and any color other than black. Under the title should be a quote from an ancient source about your imperial figure; the quote should be italicized and a different color from the title. You must have a photo of a coin depicting your figure (not the one used on this web site!).

4. You must find and discuss an image from your figure's coinage. You are not describing the coin! You are interpreting the "message" of the image and/or the portrait on the coin.
5. You must have at least one slide discussing an important building from the emperor's reign. Again, the message and impression the emperor is trying to communicate is the most important aspect of your discussion, though you could also discuss architectural or artistic significance.
6. Your final slide should be a bibliography of EVERY source you used. You must use at least one book, one CD ROM source, and one web site found via GA's Online Onramp. You should annotate each source, which means that you will write one or two sentences on each source explaining why it was useful, what features (index, subjects ordered alphabetically, etc.) would make it useful for others, whether the reading was easy or difficult, how much info on your subject was in the book, etc. You will find the format for your bibliography in the Research Guide in the back of your plan book. You must also evaluate each web site you use according to the tutorial on evaluating web sites. The evaluation should be done on paper and handed in. Be sure the web site you use measures up!
Requirements for your oral presentation of the Power Point slide show
1. Your talk should be no longer than five-ten minutes.
2. You should use note cards or memory, not a sheet of paper, to guide you. If you use note cards, do not read your whole report from them. Use them as an outline only, and show that you know your material and can talk about it.
3. Give the class extra detail that they donŐt necessarily need to know. Your Power Point presentation should give the essential facts. Your talk should enhance those facts and bring them alive, not just repeat whatŐs written on the slide. You MUST PRONOUNCE EVERY NAME CORRECTLY!!!!! The primary impact on the presentation grade will come from your demonstrated expertise in the areas you discuss and its usefulness to others; content will be graded separately.
