The Philadelphia Museum of Art The Upper School Modern Language department sponsored two major field trips on Thursday, December 3. All of the Upper School French classes toured the Delacroix exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to gain a deeper appreciation of one of the foremost French painters of the nineteenth century Romantic movement. |

Rodin Museum Taking full advantage of the 70+ degree day in December, they then walked down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to visit the world's second greatest collection of Auguste Rodin's sculptures at the Rodin Museum (the first is in Paris, "bien sûr!"). |

Metropolitan Museum of Art The upper level Spanish classes traveled to New York City. Their first stop was the Museo del Barrio, where they had a guided tour of the exhibits which include work by contemporary artists from Puerto Rico, El Salvador and Guatemala, as well as a collection of photographs by Jack Delano. They then proceeded to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where students sought out Spanish masterpieces, including paintings by El Greco, Velázquez and Goya. They also had the opportunity to enjoy other exhibits throughout the museum. |

Phantom of the Opera Students from Ms. Moore's French 3 Class and Mrs. Test's French 4 class enjoyed Andrew Lloyd Weber's musical production of "phantom of the Opera" on Dec. 12 at the Forrest theater in Philadelphia. Both classes read an abridged edition of the novel written in French by Gaston Leroux. |
