Single Shard
is an amazing book that takes place in ancient Korea. Young
Tree-ear is an orphan who lives under a bridge. When he stumbles
into potter Min's work shop and breaks something, he is forced
to go to work for her. He does well and is sent on a very important
journey to deliver two very special vases to the palace.

In this story,
an orphaned boy named Tree-ear breaks a piece of pottery of
a famous potter, Min. Because of breaking this fragile piece
Tree-ear must work for this wonderful potter. Tree-ear journeys
to the city of Songdo to present Min's pottery to the Magistrate.
Will he make it? I liked this book because of the adventure
the boy has to take. His job was to last only a year, but
Tree-ear wants to continue working and learning. Will his
dream come true?
