The Legend of Rainbow Girl
By
Cameron (Dives Like Dolphin)
and Rebecca (Dolphin Girl)
Many moons and suns ago, there was a tribe
named the Buffalo Tribe. One night the buffalo ran away. The next
day when the hunters woke up, they did not see the
buffalo.
They told the tribe. They sent out their best braves to find this
beast of the plain. They found nothing. Suffering from their hunger, the children were cranky.
A week later a girl named White Cloud had a dream. She dreamed
that she could walk across the rainbow to the buffalo spirits.
The next day she saw the rainbow. She walked across the rainbow and talked
with the buffalo spirits. They told the girl where the buffalo
were. She went back to the tribe. She told the hunters where the
buffalo were. Even though
the
braves did not want to believe her, they
followed her instructions, and, much to their surprise, a huge
herd of buffalo galloped in front of them. They were excited and
relieved.
From then on, White Cloud was called Rainbow
Girl.
